To understand how to play Babushkas, you need to know about the upgrade system: after any win, the matryoshkas involved are upgraded to the next level. If the upgrade creates new matches, the chain repeats. When all 15 positions on the screen are of the same rank, an additional +1 level upgrade is triggered.
- Wild (Egg): appears only on the middle reel and substitutes for any symbols. If a star appears on the egg, one of the “bear” features is activated.
- Scarebear: consecutively upgrades all the cheapest symbols on the grid 1–3 times.
- Charmbear: upgrades absolutely all symbols on the screen by one level at once.

Over 500+ demo spins, Babushkas managed to show all types of upgrades and both bears except the dancer. The “0” symbol never appeared either — apparently, the ghost is indeed rare. The bonus game remained out of reach, though the upgrade chains in the base game save it from complete boredom.
