Midas Golden Touch 2: Design and Theme
🖼️ Graphics
The background in the sequel is almost unchanged: the same columns, golden accents and red banners. But it now feels more “majestic” — as if the image has gained depth and shine. In the bonus game, the stone columns, just like before, turn into gold, highlighting the series’ central motif.
The symbols are familiar: Midas, the crown, the goblet, the chest and card ranks from 9 to A, all rendered in Thunderkick’s signature art style. Animations are clean and detailed — classic for the studio, favouring polish over experimentation.
🎶 Sound
The music is ceremonial but not overdone. The main theme is recognisable from the first instalment, only now it sounds fuller and clearer. Win events add percussion and metallic chimes, and in the bonus round, the tempo becomes more tense, as if hinting: “this is where your gold will be decided.”
The audio doesn’t dominate the gameplay, but it reinforces the mythological atmosphere perfectly.

Special Symbols
- Wild and Epic Wild — both symbols replace all others except the scatter. The Wild in the base game awards multipliers: x2 / x4 / x8 / x16 / x32, depending on how many appear on the line. A full line of wilds also pays: x10 for 3, x20 for 4, x75 for 5. In the bonus game, the role of the wild is taken over by Epic Wild, which appears at the start of every spin with a x2 multiplier. Collected scatters increase its strength: each set of 3 scatters doubles the multiplier (up to x32) and awards two free spins.
- Scatter (Temple) — 3, 4, or 5 symbols trigger 8, 10 or 12 free spins. During the bonus, scatters accumulate on the counter to strengthen the Epic Wild. The scatter has no standalone payouts.
Bonua Game
Free spins are triggered by scatters. Each bonus round has two main mechanics:
- Sticky Respin. Any win becomes sticky and the remaining positions respin. If new matching symbols are added, they also stick, and the process continues until the line stops improving.
- Epic Wild. At the start of every spin, an Epic Wild drops onto the reels with a x2 multiplier. It works like a normal wild but is strengthened by collected scatters.
- Multiplier Progression. Below the reels, there is a progress bar: each collected scatter fills it. After collecting 3 scatters, the Epic Wild multiplier doubles (x4, x8, x16, max x32) and +2 free spins are awarded. The bar does not reset between spins or respins, giving a chance to build power gradually.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
The official RTP of the slot is stated at 94.27%. According to Thunderkick, the volatility is medium. The maximum win is capped at x15,000 of the stake. If a combination exceeds this limit, the bonus or spin stops early and the player receives exactly the stated maximum.
Our Verdict
Midas Golden Touch 2 leaves a mixed impression. On the one hand, it is a direct sequel: the same palace, familiar lines, and multiplier wilds. On the other hand, Epic Wild with progression was added, along with a scatter indicator below and sticky respins, which makes the bonus game noticeably livelier. Over the long run the slot can be harsh: the base game often maintains the balance thanks to wilds, but the real dynamics open only in the free spins when the Epic Wild multiplier starts growing.
We tested Ante Bet at x3 of the stake and triggered free spins after 30 spins. Having spent roughly a hundred bets, we received a return of x147. Not much, and it constantly felt like the slot was going to short-pay; everything was decided literally on the last spins with the x8 multiplier.
It suits those who appreciate “classic Thunderkick”: clean graphics, precise maths and no unnecessary gimmicks. If you want to understand where it all began, try the original Midas Golden Touch. And if the “golden hand” theme appeals to you but you want a different style, take a look at The Hand of Midas by Pragmatic Play — its entire mechanic is also built around the king’s hand, but in a completely different presentation.
