Monopoly Megaways: Design and Theme
🖼️ Graphics
On screen is a neat, almost glossy London: cool mint backgrounds, transparent reels, and the familiar board with streets, stations and the “Jail” space at the bottom. The symbols are the polished tokens from the box: the top hat gleams on a purple background, the ship and the car sit in metallic frames, and there’s also the golden dog. When cascades drop, the symbols burst with a sparkling animation, while Mr Monopoly strolls leisurely across the squares towards the next card.
🎶 Sound
The soundtrack is a jazzy loop, lively enough, though it becomes repetitive after a couple of dozen spins. The sound effects are understated: a short drum roll before an important drop, voiced board squares, and an electronic “ding” when you win. No orchestras or flamboyant sound tricks — it’s modest and serves mainly as a metronome. In this game, the mechanics matter more than the audio.

Every win triggers a cascade and moves Mr Monopoly along the lower board. The first visits “purchase” stations and utilities — these will enhance the next bonus. On any street, if you reach it on the third reaction (cascade) within a single spin, a house is placed; each additional reaction adds another house. When any property accumulates the fifth house, free spins are activated.

Special Symbols
In this game, the key factor is not the scatters but navigating the board and building up your houses. There aren’t many symbols, but each has its place.
- Wild “M” (the large letter M): substitutes for paying symbols, appears on reels 2–6. Does not pay on its own.
- Chance (the “?” card): a special board card; can send you to a random street, give a Max Megaways spin, or trigger free spins immediately.
- Community Chest (chest): a card that teleports you to a random property and sometimes adds 1–4 houses.
- Train Stations: purchased on the first visit; later add +1 spin in the bonus for each station bought.
- Utilities: purchased on the first visit. Each utility gives +1 to the starting multiplier when free spins begin, and during the bonus, landing on your utility increases the current multiplier by +1 (or +2 if you own both utilities).
Bonus Game
The bonus triggers when a fifth house appears on a street (or via a Chance card). You start with 8 FS, plus +1 FS for every house beyond the fifth and for each purchased station; if multiple triggers occur in one spin, each additional one grants +3 FS. The starting multiplier = 1 + the number of purchased utilities. During the bonus, Mr Monopoly continues walking:
- GO — the next spin is on Max Megaways (117,649 ways);
- Stations — +1 spin for each station purchased;
- Utilities — +1 to the multiplier (or +2 if you own both);
- Chance — teleport/Max spin/+5 FS;
- Streets — the multiplier increases by the number of houses on that square, after which the houses on it are removed.
After the bonus ends, ownership of stations and utilities resets; houses on unvisited streets remain for the base game. The bet in the bonus spins stays the same as in the triggering spin.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
The official parameters of Monopoly Megaways from Big Time Gaming are: RTP 96.50%, high volatility, and a stated max win of x14,700 times the stake. As with any Megaways classic, long dry spells are a normal part of the cycle; the bonus can “pay back” only if you get a good route across the board and a growing multiplier.
Our Verdict
Monopoly Megaways feels like a rare “licensed” slot where the brand doesn’t get in the way of the maths. The base game is simple and fast, but thanks to cascades and houses, there are always small micro-goals between spins. The bonus really opens up when you have stations and utilities purchased beforehand — that’s when the multiplier and extra spins grow almost on their own. The downside is the repetitive sound loop and the occasional “empty” bonus if the route doesn’t work out. Players who enjoy gradually building potential and always having a “goal on the horizon” will find it ideal; those who want fireworks every tenth spin may find it a bit tame.
If you’re looking for something unusual, try Lucky Streak: a hybrid of slot and scratch cards, where every round is a small mini-game. If you want a modern rhythm and different visuals, go for Mummyland Treasures: a lively video slot with up-to-date bonus mechanics and a more straightforward presentation.
