However, the schedule of Crystal Palace is complicated by participation in the UEFA Conference League. Despite being 13th in the Premier League, they simply cannot disregard this tournament, as they are considered its main favourites. In the first leg of the round of 16 they only drew 0:0 at home with AEK Larnaca. Once again their finishing was poor (1.98 xG and six big chances), although at least they did not lose, unlike in the group stage less than six months ago (0:1 in London). In the English top flight, they have improved their results, winning three of their last five matches, but their form has been inconsistent, ranging from a 2:3 home defeat to Burnley to a 3:1 away win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds United’s good run in the Premier League ended in January. A 0:4 collapse at Elland Road against Arsenal on the final day of that month marked the start of a mediocre spell of three defeats and two draws with only one win. Before the match at Selhurst Park, their supporters can be encouraged by two factors. First, the team reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by thrashing Norwich City 3:0. Second, they are unbeaten in three consecutive away matches. Among the clubs who failed to beat them away from home are Chelsea (2:2) and Aston Villa (1:1).
The additional Thursday workload for most of Crystal Palace’s regular starters, plus the recent loss of one of their key players, Daniel Muñoz, on the right flank, are likely to lead to the hosts dropping points.
