Unknown vs Tottenham Hotspur: prediction & betting odds 2 December 2025

The Matchday 14 Premier League clash between Newcastle and Tottenham will take place on December 2 at St. James' Park. Newcastle vs. Tottenham: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Newcastle

Eddie Howe's side has performed excellently in their last two league matches, securing victories. First, they defeated Manchester City at home (2-1), and then they thrashed Everton away (4-1). Interestingly, before the match against the Merseysiders, the team had not won away in nine league games. It's also worth noting that in the last six Premier League games involving Newcastle, at least three goals were scored. The club has accumulated 18 points and climbed closer to the middle of the standings.

  • Both teams scored in Newcastle's last 6 Premier League matches.
  • Newcastle opened the scoring in their last five league matches.
  • The team has won 10 of their last 13 Premier League games (3 losses).

Predicted lineup for Newcastle (4-3-3)

Aaron Ramsdale – Valentino Livramento, Malick Thiaw, Lewis Hall, Dan Burn – Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Miley, Joelinton – Anthony Elanga, Harvey Barnes, Nick Woltemade.

Due to injuries, forwards Yoane Wissa and William Osula, as well as defenders Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth, will miss the match.

Tottenham

The Londoners have not tasted victory in the league for four matches, collecting just one point. They approach the upcoming match after two consecutive losses: away to Arsenal (1-4) and at home to Fulham (1-2). These results have impacted Thomas Frank's side's position in the standings, dropping them to the lower half. Additionally, in 5 of their last 6 Premier League games, at least three goals were scored.

  • Both teams scored in 7 of Tottenham's last 9 league matches.
  • The club has failed to win in 15 of their last 20 Premier League games (4 draws and 11 losses).
  • The Londoners have suffered just 1 loss in their last 6 Premier League matches (4 wins and 1 draw).

Predicted lineup for Tottenham (5-3-2)

Guglielmo Vicario – Kevin Danso, Archie Gray, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Pedro Porro – Joao Palhinha, Lucas Bergvall, Mohammed Kudus – Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani.

Due to injuries, midfielders Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski, as well as forward Dominic Solanke, are out. Defender Radu Dragusin's participation is doubtful.

Newcastle vs. Tottenham: Match Prediction

Encounters between these opponents are usually very entertaining and high-scoring. In the last nine league meetings, at least three goals were scored. Moreover, both teams found the net in 10 of the last 11 head-to-head Premier League clashes. Therefore, I expect both teams to score at least three goals this time as well.

Newcastle is dangerous at their home ground, not only in the Premier League. The team often wins due to their high scoring ability. In the last 13 home league games, the club scored at least two goals 10 times. Moreover, three or more goals were scored in 15 of Newcastle's last 19 home Premier League matches. The Londoners also contribute to the goal tally, scoring two or more in 5 of their last 6 away Premier League matches. At least three goals were scored in Tottenham's last 5 away league games.

My prediction – Total over 2.5 goals

Betting tips 2 December 2025

If Tottenham Hotspur continue to be as poor in defence as they were against Fulham, neither the hard-working Micky van de Ven nor the bright mind of Thomas Frank will save them, especially in a match against such a clinical home side as Newcastle United.

Across their last 10 matches in all competitions, Newcastle United have suffered four defeats, but none of them came at St James' Park. With such powerful support, the hosts simply do not lose there: they are on a six-match winning run. Their victims even include Manchester City (2:1). In the 13th round they also managed to take an away win at Everton, and they did it very comfortably (4:1).

Tottenham Hotspur are also among those to have lost at St James' Park, although that happened in the fourth round of the EFL Cup (2:0). On that occasion Aaron Ramsdale, then the reserve goalkeeper, played very well (six saves), and the forwards converted the chances they created (2.03 xG). Their recent league match on Sunday also does little to make us want to back them. They applied pressure on Fulham’s goal from the first minutes, but two attacks from the visitors turned into goals. Why Guglielmo Vicario tried to keep the ball in play by the touchline is completely unclear — he was immediately punished by a long-range shot into an empty net. A third goal was avoided only thanks to the defender, who blocked a shot from inside the penalty area with a sliding tackle right on the verge of a foul.

Newcastle United are strong anyway, and doubly so against such a disorganised Tottenham Hotspur side, so we think it is quite realistic to back them on the -1 handicap.
