The clash between Sporting CP and Marseille at Estádio José Alvalade could prove decisive in the race for a top-24 spot in the overall Champions League stage. Both sides face tough schedules ahead, making this fixture vital for their qualification hopes.

Sporting handled their first European test with relative ease, eventually overpowering Kairat (4:1) after a slow first half. However, their flaws were exposed in the 1:2 defeat to Napoli — despite creating fewer chances (0.87 xG against 1.35 and 8-12 in shots), the Italian champions prevailed through superior quality in key moments.
