Adam Williams presents his prediction for the ITV4 3m Coral New Horse Racing Bet Builder Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (5yo+ 0-145) horse racing event.
Soul Icon failed to complete on his sole start this season. He parted company with Toby McCain Mitchell late on in a handicap chase at Wincanton, but even before that mishap he did not look particularly convincing despite starting as favourite.
Your Darling has also had just one run this campaign. He finished last, and it does not help his case that he has tackled three miles only once before, back in December 2022, when he came fifth despite being well fancied.
Beachcomber has failed to complete on both of his starts this season. He has just one win from eight runs over fences, that success coming in December 2024, and it is hard to see this being the moment he adds another.
Sea Invasion produced a flat effort on his only appearance this season, finishing last. However, he ended the previous campaign with two wins at Plumpton, and if he can return to that level, his light weight of 10-2 could allow him to get involved near the front.
After a disappointing seasonal debut, Welcom To Cartries showed his ability next time. He won a handicap chase at Sandown by a narrow head margin, and this contest may prove a little less demanding for him.
The Doyen Chief has already run three times this season without getting his head in front. On his first outing he went off favourite, but Tom Bellamy lost an iron just after the final fence and victory slipped away. He then endured a miserable run where nothing went right, and last time he just failed to see out the demanding trip of 3m2½f. We are hoping that run of misfortune is behind him, and he is our selection here.
