Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
After two weeks travelling across the United States, the Anaheim Ducks return to Honda Center, but will this stop the Detroit Red Wings’ winning streak with former Ducks goaltender John Gibson in net?
Anaheim Ducks
From their trip, the Anaheim Ducks brought a decent haul – three wins, one overtime loss, and only one regulation loss. They even beat the champion Florida Panthers (3:2 SO). So, how are the team doing in California? A definitive conclusion is still difficult to make, because only two of their nine games since the start of the season were on home ice. They defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins (4:3) and lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (1:4).
Detroit Red Wings
Based on the Detroit Red Wings' start, it can be said that they will clearly contend for more than last season. Currently, the Red Wings, with 16 points, have even taken the lead in the Atlantic Division. Besides their current three-game winning streak, they already had a longer one – a five-game run. Even on the road, their balance is positive: three wins and two losses.
Anaheim Ducks vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction
As for John Gibson, in his first season with the Red Wings, he has four wins in six appearances, but he is saving only 87.6% of shots due to a disastrous first game against the Montreal Canadiens (61.5%). Without it, the percentage rises to 90.2. A win is questionable, but the overall level of the current Detroit roster allows for better hopes, hence the handicap on the Red Wings.
