Atlético Madrid, after two consecutive defeats in La Liga at the start of December, have taken seven points from their last three league matches. They now face Deportivo Alavés, who have not picked up a single point away from home since the end of September.
Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid are having a solid season and are deservedly in the top four in La Liga. At home the hosts have been almost unstoppable: eight wins and one draw with a goal difference of 22:7. Diego Simeone manages the workload well and gets the maximum out of his key players, with Antoine Griezmann, Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth scoring 18 goals between them this season. They also have the best defence in the Primera División, with only 17 goals conceded in 19 rounds and just seven goals conceded at home.
Deportivo Alavés
Deportivo Alavés, by contrast, come into the match in poor form. Eduardo Coudet’s team have gone four league matches without a win and have dropped to 16th in the standings. Their main weakness is their away form: they have collected only four points on the road with a goal difference of 4:14. The visitors are currently on a run of six consecutive away defeats, and that includes 0:1 losses against Girona and RCD Mallorca, both clubs from the lower part of the standings.
Atlético Madrid vs Deportivo Alavés Prediction
Deportivo Alavés have lost seven consecutive matches away to Atlético Madrid in Madrid, and there are no signs that this trend will change now. They should take all three points and are likely to score at least twice against the visitors.
