Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women's Champions League match.
Another major test awaits the reigning Women’s Champions League holders, Arsenal, as they travel to Munich. Bayern are currently on a winning run, yet their defensive frailties at the start of the European campaign remain evident.
Bayern Munchen (women)
A month ago, Bayern Munchen suffered a heavy defeat against the main favourites of the competition, Barcelona (1:7). Despite conceding only 1.99 xGA, the quality of the Catalan chances was exceptional — 12 shots on target and eight corners. Even against a less dangerous Juventus side, Bayern still conceded (2:1). Their current six-match winning streak highlights more the lack of real competition in the Bundesliga than genuine dominance.
Arsenal (women)
In the opening round of the group stage, Arsenal faced another powerhouse, Olympique Lyonnais, and narrowly missed out on points (1:2). Since that defeat, they have looked more solid — only two goals conceded across four matches (three wins and one draw). At the weekend, they showed character in the derby against Chelsea (1:1), salvaging a point late on. As the defending champions, Arsenal must now aim for a strong run to secure their place in the quarter-finals — dropping points is no longer an option.
Bayern Munchen (women) vs Arsenal (women) Prediction
Last season, Bayern and Arsenal exchanged victories in their head-to-head group meetings (5:2 and 2:3). This time, Arsenal’s deeper bench and attacking quality should allow them to dictate play in Munich and at least avoid defeat.
