Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2027 European U21 qualifying match.
Neither Belarus U21 nor Wales U21 reached the final stage of the previous European Under-21 Championship, even though it now features 16 teams. Both will try to qualify for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship.
Belarus U21
For Belarus this is more of an aspiration. In the previous qualification they finished only fifth out of six in the group and managed to beat only Greece U21, who ended third (1:0 at home), and they did not defeat Andorra U21 across two games (0:0, 1:1). In this campaign the hosts are likely to be near the bottom of the standings, as they have collected just one point from the first two rounds. Drawing with Belgium U21 on neutral ground (1:1) and losing only 2:3 to Austria U21 is respectable, but if even as the nominal home team there are no wins, what will the away fixtures look like?
Wales U21
Judging by the last qualification, Wales can compete for the top two. In the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification, they finished third, with the same points, goal difference and goals scored as Czech Republic U21, so the head-to-head meetings decided it, where the visitors were slightly worse (1:1 and 1:2). At the moment they have one win in three matches and, interestingly, it came away to Austria U21 (2:0).
Belarus U21 vs Wales U21 Prediction
Belarus U21 still have a chance to take at least a point, because Wales U21, unlike them, could not compete at home against Belgium U21 (0:7). We are backing Belarus U21 on the Double Chance.
