Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Paris match.
Shelton and Sinner meet in what has become a modern quarterfinal classic — the explosive American taking on the relentless Italian, who continues to dominate even when not at his absolute best after winning two Grand Slams and two ATP 500 titles this season (Vienna, Beijing).
Ben Shelton
Ranked No.7 ATP, Shelton keeps reaching quarterfinals, winning five of eight this season. On indoor courts, he has lost only 12 of 55 career matches. In Paris, he produced two nearly identical wins — over Flavio Cobolli (7:6, 6:3) and Andrey Rublev (7:6, 6:3) — each lasting around 90 minutes. His performance against the Russian was particularly impressive, delivering 15 aces. However, his record against Sinner is bleak: six straight defeats without taking a set, and just one victory in seven meetings, where he still dropped a set.
Jannik Sinner
Ranked No.2 ATP, Sinner has already captured two Grand Slam titles and two ATP 500 crowns in Vienna and Beijing this year, yet remains just behind Alcaraz in the rankings. Since withdrawing in Shanghai, he has looked slightly more measured, relying more on spin and depth. In Paris, Sinner comfortably beat Francisco Cerundolo (7:5, 6:1) and Zizou Bergs (6:4, 6:2), winning around 80% of points behind his first serve. Over his last 10 matches, the Italian has dropped only one set, even against four top-10 opponents.
Ben Shelton vs Jannik Sinner Prediction
Shelton is riding a wave of confidence after his Toronto triumph, but Sinner’s consistency and precision from the baseline should prove decisive once again. Expect another straight-sets win for Sinner.
