Burnley turned in respectable displays against the heavyweights of Manchester United and Liverpool, albeit losing on both occasions. The squad now gets a second opportunity to pick up points at home, this time against Nottingham Forest.
Burnley
That said, the performances have not eased Burnley’s situation. The team is hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th place. To avoid sinking into it, they need at least a point, ideally all three. In the 2023/24 season, when Burnley were relegated from the Premier League, they failed to win any of their first six matches, four of which were at home. This season, a victory arrived as early as Matchweek 2, albeit against fellow newcomers Sunderland (2:0). In the previous round against Liverpool (0:1), Burnley conceded the only goal in the 95th minute from the penalty spot. Nottingham Forest
In Matchweek 4, Nottingham Forest also faced a heavyweight in Arsenal, who have qualified for European competition. The gulf remained and it showed in a 0:3 scoreline. The maximum Nottingham Forest have managed away from home in the new campaign is a draw at Crystal Palace (1:1). In addition, unlike Burnley, they have a midweek EFL Cup tie against a stubborn Swansea City.

Whatever the outcome of that cup fixture, energy will be spent, and the lack of midweek travel suits Burnley. We predict the hosts will take points.
