In the previous round, Burnley halted Liverpool at Anfield. Can the team now cope with an even more inconsistent Tottenham Hotspur, especially given that the visitors have to travel away from London?
Burnley
It is indeed becoming more and more difficult to take points off Burnley. Over the last six league rounds, half of their opponents have failed to beat them: Everton (0:0), Manchester United (2:2) and Liverpool (1:1). However, they are still some way from straightforward victories – in all of those matches they had to come from behind. The fans last saw a home win at Turf Moor on 10 January, but there is a caveat: that was a 5:1 FA Cup victory over EFL Championship side Millwall, for whom the fight for a play-off place in their own league is a higher priority. Their last genuine Premier League win came back on 18 October, when Scott Parker’s team defeated Leeds United (2:0).
Tottenham Hotspur
In the previous round, Tottenham Hotspur failed to get the better of West Ham United, losing 1:2. Is that a good sign for Burnley? Not really. The visitors are a highly inconsistent side: they are weak at home (only two wins and three draws in 11 matches) – incidentally, Burnley have exactly the same record on their own pitch. However, the London side are much more dangerous away, as only three of their 11 away opponents have managed to beat them. Thomas Frank’s team have a positive away goal difference (+3), and only Arsenal are better than them in this respect.
Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur have won fewer than half of their away matches (five of 11), but against such a weak home side as Burnley it should be significantly easier for them to get the win. We recommend at least backing the visitors Draw No Bet.
