Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers are two contenders for a top-four spot in the Eastern Conference. With such ambitions, they do not intend to give away wins, but today one of them is likely to fall short. We expect a real battle.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The key to victory today for the Cleveland Cavaliers could be the return of their leaders from injury. Jarrett Allen, Sam Merrill and even Darius Garland may take the court tonight, which would significantly strengthen an already strong squad. This is especially welcome news for Donovan Mitchell, who will no longer have to shoulder everything to secure wins: he has already scored 30+ points four times, and in three of those games the team were stronger than their opponents.
Philadelphia 76ers
After a lively start, the Philadelphia 76ers have hit turbulence: two defeats in their last three games. Their opponents were the depleted yet resilient Boston Celtics (108:109) and the Eastern Conference leaders Chicago Bulls (111:113). It turns out that when Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe face above-average defence, they no longer produce exceptional scoring. Joel Embiid’s form also raises many questions. The center averages only 5.4 rebounds, the worst rate of his career.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction
If Joel Embiid struggles under the rim against the Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic, he is unlikely to find success against the Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen pairing. The Cavaliers should dominate the boards and then win the game.
