Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
After two rounds, Borussia Dortmund sit seventh in the overall Champions League table — a position that would secure direct qualification for the round of 16. The hardest part now is holding onto it. Fortunately for the German side, they have a good chance to pick up more points against Copenhagen.
Copenhagen
The Danes have endured a miserable start to their European campaign. They opened with a 2:2 home draw against an out-of-form Bayer Leverkusen — despite leading 2:1 as late as the 87th minute — before being completely outplayed by Qarabag (0:2), allowing 1.9 xGA. Things have since gone from bad to worse, with key players Thomas Delaney and Mohamed Elyounoussi both sidelined through injury.
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund returned from the international break with a narrow 1:2 defeat to Bayern Munich, despite a strong performance and an xG of 1.58. The good news for the team is that Julian Brandt continues to shine — the midfielder has contributed four goal involvements (2+2) in his last four matches, looking revitalised under his new coach.
Copenhagen vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction
It’s hard to imagine Borussia Dortmund dropping points in Denmark. An injury-hit and struggling Copenhagen side look well below the level required to compete with the Germans.
