Adam Williams presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
Round 9 of the EuroLeague starts today in Belgrade. Crvena Zvezda, who share the lead in the standings with Zalgiris Kaunas, will host Panathinaikos. Everything points to this being the standout game of the week.
Crvena Zvezda
Crvena Zvezda keep surprising. They are on a six-game winning run and do not look like slowing down. The squad in Belgrade is stacked. The duo of Codi Miller-McIntyre and Chima Moneke are leading the way, with the latter averaging 29.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. In addition, newcomer Jared Butler impressed at the weekend against BC Spartak Saint Petersburg, scoring 16 points. It is clear he will make this team even stronger.
Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos have been hit by injuries to key players. The centre position is particularly affected, with Mathias Lessort, Juancho Hernangómez and Richaun Holmes all in the infirmary. In their absence the defence, to put it mildly, has struggled, as we saw against Virtus Bologna (75:92), where the Italian side shot 51.4% from the field. And their offence is hardly elite (80.1 points, 17th in the league).
Crvena Zvezda vs Panathinaikos Prediction
We believe the winning streak of Crvena Zvezda will continue today. At home they receive tremendous support. The fans will drive the players forward until the final seconds, and this could be the decisive factor.
