Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Paris match.
Medvedev, who battled past Sonego with the help of the Paris crowd and a boost of energy in the deciding set, now faces Alexander Zverev — an opponent he defeated just a month ago in Beijing.
Daniil Medvedev
Currently ranked No.13, Medvedev has reached his 25th Masters quarterfinal — the third-highest mark among active players, behind only Novak Djokovic (97) and Alexander Zverev (34). Since parting ways with Gilles Cervara, Daniil has shown renewed form, reaching the Shanghai semifinal and lifting the title in Almaty. In Paris, he comfortably beat Jaume Munar (6:1, 6:3) but looked slightly fatigued against Sonego, dropping a set before turning it around (3:6, 6:3, 6:1). His record against top-10 players this season sits at four wins and six losses, yet he has beaten Zverev in nine of their last ten encounters.
Alexander Zverev
Ranked No.3, Zverev has had a strong season — a Grand Slam final appearance, a title in Munich, and a recent runner-up finish in Vienna, where he fell to Jannik Sinner (6:3, 3:6, 5:7). In Paris, however, his form has been uneven. He dropped a set to Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6:7, 6:1, 7:5) before overcoming Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6:2, 6:4), who struggled on first serve (58%). Since August, Zverev has dropped at least one set in 10 of his last 15 matches and has taken a set off Medvedev in only five of their 22 meetings.
Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev Prediction
Medvedev appears revitalised and confident after his recent title run and solid performances in Paris. His superior return game and backhand consistency give him the edge over Zverev, whose serve remains dangerous but not decisive against Daniil’s defensive prowess. Expect Medvedev to prevail once again.
