Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Vienna match.
Just four days after their final in Almaty, Daniil Medvedev and Corentin Moutet meet again — this time on the faster indoor courts of Vienna. The Russian reached the final here in 2023, while Moutet is appearing in the tournament’s second round for the first time.
Daniil Medvedev
World No. 14 Medvedev looks revitalized under the guidance of coaches Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke. He recently lifted his first title in over two years and reached the semifinals in both Shanghai and Beijing — his strongest stretch of the season. In the opening round in Vienna, he defeated Nuno Borges (6:4, 6:7, 6:2), showing more control on serve and composure under pressure. Indoors remains one of his best environments, with a 67% career win rate (155-75) and a recent victory over Corentin Moutet in Almaty to his name.
Corentin Moutet
Moutet (No. 36 ATP) is enjoying a breakout year, playing with far greater consistency and composure. Finals in Almaty and Mallorca confirm his progress, and in Vienna he opened with a dominant win over Damir Dzumhur (6:3, 6:0). The Frenchman tends to raise his level against higher-ranked opponents — in four of his last six matches versus top-20 players he has taken at least one set. His indoor record (69-57) may look modest, but this season he’s been far more effective, and his recent loss to Medvedev was a close one.
Daniil Medvedev vs Corentin Moutet Prediction
Moutet’s variety and tactical patience could once again trouble Medvedev, who remains cautious in his play and is not yet back to his absolute peak. The Frenchman should keep the match tight and stay within the spread.
