The Detroit Red Wings are only third in their division but have collected six points more than the Pacific Division leaders, the Vegas Golden Knights. However, can they score even once against the visitors, given that their first meeting in November ended in a shutout win for them (1:0)?
Detroit Red Wings
All four of the Detroit Red Wings’ wins in their last 10 games have come on the road. At Little Caesars Arena they suffered three defeats at the end of February. Only against the Washington Capitals did they scrape a point (3:4 SO). That, however, was back in January – throughout February Todd McLellan’s team were travelling and scored no more than two goals per game. That is a problem. The goaltenders have not always been able to keep them in games. Only in their most recent success in Nashville against the Nashville Predators did they score four goals (4:2).
Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights came out strongly after the Olympic break, dismantling the Los Angeles Kings (6:4) in California, but the rest of their road trip has not gone to plan for the 2023 champions. They have scored only four goals in three games and have not earned a single point. The games against the Washington Capitals and the Buffalo Sabres followed the same pattern for them: they conceded three goals first and only then began to chase the game. They failed to complete the comebacks in either contest, losing both games 2:3.
Detroit Red Wings vs Vegas Golden Knights Prediction
At the moment both teams are unable to win even half of their games. Backing either of them to win is risky. Both their first meeting and their current scoring form point towards choosing the under on the total goals market.
