Fulham’s unbeaten run has reached five matches – within a single week they have held their own in games against the giants of the Premier League. Middlesbrough have slightly fallen behind Coventry City, who lead the EFL Championship, so the visitors will travel to Craven Cottage with their thoughts primarily on the EFL Championship, their main competition this season.
Fulham
Fulham would not mind pushing for the later stages of the FA Cup. After a 2:1 win over Chelsea, Marco Silva’s side returned to the top half of the Premier League, moving ahead of Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton, although a top-five finish is not really in play. At home the hosts have taken 20 of their 31 Premier League points – they have scored 19 goals in 11 home matches, the fifth-best record in the league.
Middlesbrough
Before a convincing 4:0 home win over an inconsistent Southampton, Middlesbrough had gone four EFL Championship matches without a victory. In that spell they did not score a single goal, taking only one point thanks to a 0:0 draw with strugglers Blackburn Rovers. Kim Hellberg’s team clearly have problems in attack – their recent away matches against Bristol City (0:2) and Derby County (0:1) also produced no goals.
Fulham vs Middlesbrough Prediction
Fulham’s confident home performances against Liverpool (2:2) and Chelsea suggest they should also cope with Middlesbrough. The level of this opponent should not trouble the hosts, who are well aware of their strengths.
