RB Leipzig's significant downturn has immediately affected their league results. They have dropped to fifth place, but already on Saturday they can return to the UEFA Champions League places with a win over Heidenheim 1846, who have been stuck at the bottom of the standings since the start of the season.
Heidenheim 1846
After a decent run with two wins around the turn of autumn and winter, Heidenheim 1846 have stopped pleasing their fans with regular points. The squad have picked up only two points from a possible 15 since 13 December, losing 1:2 even to Mainz 05 from the relegation zone. At home, Frank Schmidt's side have allowed 18.85 xGA in nine games – the worst figure in the Bundesliga – so RB Leipzig should create plenty of chances in attack.
RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig have accumulated 35.28 xG in 17 league matches – only Bayer 04 Leverkusen (35.52) and Bayern Munich (56.19) have been more productive in attack. Last Saturday against Bayern Munich, they led at half-time but collapsed after the break, losing 1:5. Overall, though, this season is going well for Ole Werner's team: their aim remains a top-four finish, and they have also reached the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal, so the club are not short of competitive fixtures despite the absence of European competitions.
Heidenheim 1846 vs RB Leipzig Prediction
During the autumn period, RB Leipzig won four of their five away league matches, failing to win only at Borussia Dortmund. Since Heidenheim 1846 were promoted to the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig have beaten the hosts twice away from home (2:1 and 1:0), so we will back them to win again.
