Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Finals match.
In Turin at the ATP Finals, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev will compete for leadership in the Björn Borg Group after strong starts — Sinner routed Félix Auger-Aliassime (7:5, 6:1), and the German defeated Ben Shelton (6:3, 7:6).
Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner is in outstanding form: a 57-6 record this season, three Grand Slams, three Masters titles, and he is aiming to defend his title in Turin. He is superb on indoor courts, on a 27‑match winning streak since 2024, and he has 14 consecutive victories since mid‑October. Against Alexander Zverev, Sinner leads the head‑to‑head 5-4, and at the recent Rolex Paris Masters he dominated the German, dropping only one game.
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev is playing well, but not at his peak. He is 55-24 this season with only one title (the BMW Open) from 25 tournaments. In the autumn he struggled at the Laver Cup with two defeats, then lost to Daniil Medvedev in Beijing and Arthur Rinderknech in Shanghai. Events in Vienna and at the Rolex Paris Masters also brought no success; on both occasions he was eliminated by Jannik Sinner. The ATP Finals has been a good tournament for Zverev (titles in 2018 and 2021), but last year he only reached the semi‑finals. At the current ATP Finals he beat Ben Shelton but still conceded nine games.
Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev Prediction
Jannik Sinner is the clear tournament favourite, with only Carlos Alcaraz looking capable of challenging him. Zverev is a worthy opponent, but he is unlikely to match Sinner over the course of this match. We expect a Sinner victory by a margin of at least five games.
