Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Paris match.
Munar, in fine form on indoor courts, faces Medvedev, who after his emotional outbursts in Vienna risks another stumble at a Masters event — particularly against the Spaniard who shocked him earlier this year in Miami.
Jaume Munar
Munar has looked strong on indoor hard courts this season, with six wins in eight matches, including semifinal runs in Dallas and Basel — losing narrowly to Casper Ruud (2:6, 6:2, 6:7) and Joao Fonseca (6:7, 5:7). In Paris, the Spaniard has dismantled two top-10 players — Felix Auger-Aliassime (No. 10) and Ben Shelton (No. 7). Earlier this year, Munar faced Medvedev and needed just one hour and 18 minutes to beat him, dropping only five games.
Daniil Medvedev
After a disappointing Shanghai semifinal, Medvedev won the Almaty title, edging Moutet in a tough final. Yet at the following tournament in Vienna, he lost to the same opponent despite being a heavy favourite. Emotional outbursts remain Medvedev’s Achilles heel — in six indoor matches this autumn, he has dropped at least seven games in all and lost a set in four.
Jaume Munar vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction
Munar’s current indoor form and Medvedev’s recent inconsistency make this a tricky matchup for the Russian. Expect a tight contest in which the Spaniard can keep the scoreline close.
