Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match.
Kosovo have already secured second place in Group B and a playoff berth, but they cannot qualify directly for the World Cup ahead of Switzerland, even if there is a theoretical chance.
Kosovo
For a miracle to happen, Kosovo would need to beat the group leaders by six goals. They do have one such result in their history — a 7:1 win over Monaco in 2006 — but that came before their admission to FIFA. Even against the smallest national teams they rarely win by wide margins. Kosovo have scored just five goals in this qualifying campaign, though they come into the match unbeaten in four with three wins and a draw.
Switzerland
Their only defeat, unsurprisingly, came against Switzerland at 0:4. All four goals were scored before half-time, and after the break both sides simply played out the match. Kosovo have no realistic path to beating Switzerland when the Swiss have conceded just once in the entire qualifying cycle, and even that came in the fifth round — a 4:1 win over Sweden. The team failed to score only once, against Slovenia at 0:0; in every other match they struck at least twice.
Kosovo vs Switzerland Prediction
It is quite possible we see fewer goals from Switzerland this time, but given Kosovo’s modest output and the visitors’ defensive strength, the hosts are unlikely to score more than one. We are combining the double chance with a low total.
