The derby between Levante and Valencia is likely to be low-scoring. Both teams are in desperate need of points, particularly the hosts, but the visitors, after a run of three defeats, may again prioritise defensive solidity over attacking creativity.
Levante
The trip to face Athletic Bilbao (2:4) brought Levante their 12th defeat of the current campaign, the worst tally in the league (matched by only three other teams). The LaLiga newcomers have scored only 11 goals in 10 home matches; only Girona (10), Rayo Vallecano and Getafe (both 8) and Real Oviedo (4) have scored fewer, yet all of them have collected more points on their own ground. With the suspended Matturo and Toljan unavailable, the hosts have fewer options across the pitch.
Valencia
After victories over Getafe (1:0) and RCD Espanyol (3:2), Valencia faced a difficult schedule. They competed well against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao (both 1:2) and Real Madrid (0:2), but each time the visitors lacked quality in attack. At Mestalla Stadium against the latter, Carlos Corberán’s side generated only 0.44 xG and failed to register a single shot on target over the 90 minutes.
Levante vs Valencia Prediction
In November the derby went the way of Valencia, who needed only one goal to defeat Levante (1:0). It appears that the next meeting between these neighbours will also not produce many chances.
