Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Lingfield (AW) 1m2f Midnite Ain’t Your Grandad’s Bookie Novice Stakes (Class 3) (4yo+) horse racing event.
German-bred Abando is yet to win either in his homeland or in Britain. He switched to Jamie Osborne in December and has made one start for his new yard, finishing fifth in a Novice Stakes at Kempton. One of only two colts in the field, he looks capable of stepping forward and getting involved, so he is our selection to come out on top.
The other colt in the line-up is Spanish Voice. He has not been seen since April last year, when he won a Novice Stakes at Newmarket. That was just his second career start as a two year old. He is set to carry top weight of 9-11.
Bintkend ran twice last year, both times at Haydock, finishing fourth on each occasion. Nevertheless, those were respectable efforts, especially on her second start when she was the only filly in the field and finished strongly.
Nuptown Girl has raced exclusively against fillies and is still a maiden. Her latest outing came on 4 February, when she finished sixth and did not show a great deal.
