Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Primeira Liga match.
Porto are looking to bounce back after a brief dip in form, while Moreirense are enjoying an impressive campaign and will try to exploit any weakness shown by the league leaders.
Moreirense
The hosts have made an excellent start and currently sit sixth with 15 points from eight matches. Their attack has been productive, scoring 12 goals — one of the strongest tallies in the league — though their defence remains inconsistent, having conceded 11. At home, Moreirense have been flawless so far, winning all four of their league fixtures this season. That record should give them confidence heading into this challenging clash with the champions.
Porto
Porto opened the season in outstanding form with nine consecutive wins across all competitions, but their momentum has slowed. They have managed just one victory in their last three games, including a 0:2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Europa League. Despite that, Porto lead the Primeira Liga with seven wins from eight matches, boasting the league’s best defensive record — only one goal conceded and 19 scored. Historically, Porto have dominated this fixture, losing only twice in their last 20 meetings with Moreirense in all competitions.
Moreirense vs Porto Prediction
Moreirense’s home form makes them a dangerous opponent, yet Porto’s quality and experience should still see them through. The visitors are likely to control possession and create more chances, though the hosts can keep the margin respectable. Given the balance of form and history, the handicap on the home side looks like the safer play.
