Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Norwich City are stuck in the relegation zone and looking for a way out, while Hull City are confidently close to the play-offs. For the hosts this is a chance to end their poor run and regain the fans’ trust.
Norwich City
Norwich City are failing at the start of the season — only two wins in 12 rounds, eight defeats and just two points from the last eight matches. The defence is struggling: 18 conceded — the fourth-worst in the league, and xGA per match exceeds 1.9. The last meeting with Swansea City (1:2) was the fifth in a row where they lost despite 60% possession. The home factor adds a little intrigue — at Carrow Road the team are traditionally stronger and have beaten Hull City in four straight head-to-heads, scoring at least twice. But confidence and atmosphere are currently very low.
Hull City
Hull City look organised — five matches unbeaten and 11 points in this stretch. Wins over Birmingham City and Leicester City showed that the team can play for results. In attack they are consistently productive — 20 goals, and average xG per game exceeds 1.5. Away from home they won their last match (3:2 at Birmingham City), but remain inconsistent — in five away fixtures they kept a clean sheet only once.
Norwich City vs Hull City Prediction
Norwich City desperately need points and will have to push forward, which will open spaces for the visitors’ counter-attacks. Both teams create chances but are weak at the back — the hosts concede in almost every match, and Hull City also regularly make errors. An open game with chances for both sides is expected.
