Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Nottingham Forest have one point after drawing with Real Betis and will host Midtjylland, who collected three points against Sturm Graz and will now look to build on that win with another result away from home.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are in a dip in form: no wins in their last seven matches (four defeats, three draws), including a 0:1 loss to Sunderland in the English Premier League. In the UEFA Europa League, the team opened with a 2:2 draw against Real Betis, where a brace from Igor Jesus was not enough to secure victory. So far, Nottingham Forest have not reproduced last season’s level, and the new signings are yet to deliver.
Midtjylland
Midtjylland are in excellent form: four wins in a row, including 2:1 against Randers in the Danish Superliga and 2:0 versus SK Sturm Graz in the Europa League. Over that run, the squad have scored nine goals and conceded only once. In the meeting with Sturm Graz, the team showed outstanding chance conversion — 0.56 xG yet two goals. The standout for the team is Franculino Djú, who has scored eight goals in the Danish Superliga. Away from home, Midtjylland have been excellent — just one defeat in their last 10 matches since April.
Nottingham Forest vs Midtjylland Prediction
Backed by the City Ground, Nottingham Forest will look to press, but their defence is vulnerable and their finishing remains unreliable. Midtjylland are in fine form, with a solid back line and sharp counter-attacks. The visitors can hold for a draw or even edge an away win thanks to their cohesion.
