Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur will meet at The City Ground on Sunday. Which team will find more energy for this match after only a few days’ rest?
Nottingham Forest
However, Nottingham Forest are playing almost a day later than Tottenham Hotspur, and they will also have only a short flight back from Utrecht in the Netherlands. Their position in the Europa League standings is noticeably better than in the Premier League: there they are in the upper half of the standings, while in the national championship they are only one position away from the relegation zone. Just when it seemed their results were improving (three wins in four rounds), Nottingham Forest were beaten by Everton (0:3).
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur are a similar mid-table side to Everton and currently even slightly lower. However, only two points separate their 11th place from Everton’s seventh. Potentially, they could return to the European qualification zone. It is already positive that the London side have started picking up points again after three consecutive defeats. Two wins came in home matches — against Brentford (2:0) and Slavia Prague (3:0) — while an away game at Newcastle United ended with a fightback to draw 2:2.
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
Bookmakers see this match as very evenly balanced, and it is difficult to pick a clear winner. Both clubs have long injury lists, with up to nine players sidelined by some estimates. Some reserves will have to feature both in European competition and in the Premier League, which should increase the likelihood of errors in defence and, therefore, goals. We expect an open game with chances at both ends and will back the over 2.5 goals.
