Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
It may not be Paris Saint-Germain, but OGC Nice also cause plenty of problems for Olympique Marseille, so on Friday we will see another Mediterranean Derby at the Allianz Riviera.
OGC Nice
In October OGC Nice set about chasing the leading group, but away fixtures held them back again – they are now eight points behind second-placed Olympique de Marseille. The defeat at the Parc des Princes is understandable but very painful, because they conceded the only goal in the 94th minute, from Paris Saint-Germain’s final attack. Losing to Metz (1:2) was simply embarrassing, as they scored both goals from their only two shots on target. But those results all came away from home; at home OGC Nice have been doing very well (4-1-1).
Olympique Marseille
In recent matches Olympique de Marseille have only allowed themselves to lose in the Champions League, where they were beaten at home at the Stade Vélodrome by Atalanta BC. They conceded just once, in the final minutes of normal time. There has been no other occasion this season when they have failed to score at home. The only time they scored just once was in Le Classique (1:0). Away from home it is a bit more difficult. There, by contrast, scoring more than one goal is rare (only in two of eight away matches in all competitions), although Mason Greenwood is in excellent scoring form (nine goals in Ligue 1 alone).
OGC Nice vs Olympique Marseille Prediction
Franck Haise and Roberto De Zerbi have been in charge of their current teams since the start of the 2024/25 season. So far their meetings have all ended 2:0 to the home side. OGC Nice are clearly not at their peak now, but Olympique Marseille have also not impressed away from home for a long time, so the optimal option is to take the Double Chance on the hosts.
