Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
The final game of Round 7 will take place in Athens, where Olympiacos host Monaco. This is their first meeting since the Final Four, and Georgios Bartzokas will be eager to avenge that 68:78 defeat in Abu Dhabi.
Olympiacos
The Greek side enter the game on a four-match winning streak, two of those victories coming in the EuroLeague against Bayern (96:71) and Maccabi (95:94). The long list of injuries has finally eased, allowing the team to show its full attacking potential. Tyler Dorsey has taken full advantage of his place in the starting five, averaging 17.2 points per game and easing the burden on Sasha Vezenkov. Together they form one of the most effective duos in this year’s competition.
Monaco Basket
Monaco are going through a slight dip in form, having won only once in their last three EuroLeague fixtures. The main issue has been their declining offensive efficiency. Virtus Bologna kept them quiet at 77:73, and Hapoel followed with an 85:77 victory. The key problem lies in the poor shot selection, reflected in shooting percentages of just 37.1% and 38.2% respectively.
Olympiacos vs Monaco Basket Prediction
Both of Monaco’s recent defeats came away from home, and now they face a demanding trip to Athens. The atmosphere in Peace and Friendship Stadium will be electric, and Olympiacos are in strong form. It is difficult to see the visitors keeping this close.
