Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Nantes travel to the capital to face an ambitious Paris side that continues to impress with attacking football. While the visitors remain among the league’s top five teams in goals conceded (nine), they sit dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Paris FC
The last official meeting between these clubs dates back to 2019, when Nantes crushed Paris (8:0) in the League Cup. But that was a very different time — Paris FC were battling for survival in Ligue 2, and the Arnault family had yet to take control. Since their arrival, the club’s rebuild has been measured but effective. The team keep improving, showing strong attacking metrics and confidence at home, where they average 2.3 goals per game. Their only real setback came in the debut match against Angers (0:1), while the other defeats were to clearly stronger sides.
Nantes
Nantes’ defence and goalkeeper Anthony Lopes have kept them afloat — two clean sheets and generally solid positioning at the back. However, their attack has been dismal. The team rank 18th in goals scored (five), ahead only of Angers (four). Their expected goals tally (7.38 xG) and poor conversion rate (-2.38 xGDiff) tell the story of a team unable to make the most of its chances. Without creativity or finishing power, Nantes simply cannot compete in open games.
Paris FC vs Nantes Prediction
As such, should Paris make the most of even a few of their many chances (averaging 17.3 shots per home match), they are well-placed to claim all three points.
