Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
The Philadelphia Flyers have four days of rest before facing the Edmonton Oilers, and they have not returned from any away games. Will they lose their match rhythm before an important game?
Philadelphia Flyers
Currently, the Philadelphia Flyers hold the second wild-card spot, but it seems that will not last long. Their advantage over three other teams is only due to a better win percentage. In their last home game on Saturday, they lost in overtime to the Ottawa Senators (2:3). That November game was the fifth in a row in which the team failed to score more than two goals.
Edmonton Oilers
Although the Edmonton Oilers sometimes concede too many goals (1:9 against the Colorado Avalanche) for a Stanley Cup contender, they can still win even after allowing four, as they did against the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last home game (5:4 OT). However, this trend does not carry over on the road. The visitors have only one regulation win out of nine away games, because they have not scored more than three in any of them, even in their victory over the New York Rangers (2:0).
Philadelphia Flyers vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction
Given the Philadelphia Flyers’ recent home scoring struggles and the Edmonton Oilers’ limited output away from home, we expect a lower-scoring contest. The rest factor for the hosts may slow the tempo rather than boost offense, while the visitors’ road profile points to conservatism and tighter games. We recommend an under 6.5 goals bet.
