Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Hull City have climbed clearly higher in the standings than expected, up to fifth place. The question is whether they can stay that high for long. Even against Queens Park Rangers, who are only 16th, they may run into problems.
Queens Park Rangers
Queens Park Rangers have not been able to win since October. Their last success came on 22 October in an away match against Swansea City (1:0). After that they suffered three defeats, and only in the round before the break did they avoid losing, holding Sheffield United to a 0:0 draw. To get any kind of result, it is better for the team to keep matches low scoring, because five of their six defeats this season have come in games where the over 2.5 goals bet has landed. In those matches they concede at least two.
Hull City
Even though Hull City have three more wins than defeats (7 to 4), they only have a very small positive goal difference (+2). They usually win by a single goal (five times), while half of their defeats have been by at least two goals (opponents covering the -1.5 handicap). Matches involving Hull City are also high scoring, with 50 goals in total. The over 2.5 goals bet has landed in 11 of their 15 matches.
Queens Park Rangers vs Hull City Prediction
Last season Queens Park Rangers and Hull City exchanged away wins: QPR won (2:1), while Hull City were victorious (3:1). On that basis, it might seem we should immediately back the over 2.5 goals and a win for Hull City. However, that is very risky. We will take the Double Chance on them.
