RCD Espanyol are firmly in the upper part of the standings, sitting fifth with 34 points, whereas Girona are closer to the relegation zone in 13th place and are slowly recovering.
RCD Espanyol
RCD Espanyol are playing excellently. In their last seven matches they have suffered only one defeat, and the 1:1 away draw with Levante looks more like an accident, as they completely dominated. At home, Manolo González's side are particularly strong, with six wins and only three defeats in ten games, and they have scored in eight of them. Moreover, those defeats came against clubs from the top six in La Liga – Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Betis.
Girona
Girona, by contrast, have gone through an inconsistent spell, but in recent rounds Míchel's team have clearly improved. The 1:0 win over Osasuna was their third victory in five matches, and the team are gradually emerging from their crisis. The main issue remains the same – vulnerability in defence: 34 goals conceded and only 18 scored. Nevertheless, there have been positive changes in attack: Míchel's progressive style, focused on possession and short passing, has started to bear fruit. Away from home, the visitors look weak (two wins in nine matches), but they have scored in seven of their last eight away games.
RCD Espanyol vs Girona Prediction
RCD Espanyol are in excellent form and are capable of beating Girona, who have also found their rhythm. The match should be high-scoring, with the hosts avoiding defeat.
