Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
Both Real Madrid and Fenerbahce have struggled badly at the start of the EuroLeague season. Each sits at 3-4, far below expectations for clubs of their stature. This head-to-head clash is crucial, as another defeat could deepen the crisis for either side.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid have lost three consecutive EuroLeague games, and not against the strongest opposition: Bayern (84:90), Maccabi Tel Aviv (91:92) and Crvena Zvezda (75:90). Their defensive issues are glaring, while scoring points in attack has become a real challenge. The main problem is inconsistency from their leaders. Mario Hezonja can deliver twenty points one night and only seven the next. Théo Maledon, returning from injury, is still far from his best shape.
Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce continue their Spanish trip and opened it with a poor showing against Valencia (79:94). Sarunas Jasikevicius is struggling to establish rhythm in offence, and that has led to disappointing results. Mikael Jantunen, expected to play a key role this season, averages just 6.3 points and 0.8 assists. Wade Baldwin IV remains unpredictable — after his 36-point outburst against Zalgiris, he hasn’t scored more than 13 in any game since.
Real Madrid vs Fenerbahce Prediction
Both teams are in crisis and desperate for a result. The game should be physical, full of fouls and scrappy possessions, but not high scoring. Expect a defensive battle.
