Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Real Sociedad enter this match in crisis and under growing pressure, with head coach Sergio Francisco on the verge of dismissal after a month without a win. Sevilla, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from a setback against Mallorca following their stunning 4:1 triumph over Barcelona.
Real Sociedad
The Basque side have managed just one victory in nine league games and continue to look disjointed both defensively and in attack. They have conceded 13 goals so far, keeping only one clean sheet, and their finishing remains a major concern. Despite creating an average of 1.61 expected goals per match – the fourth-best figure in La Liga – they have scored only eight times, with captain Mikel Oyarzabal finding the net just twice this season.
Sevilla
Under Matías Almeyda, Sevilla have found attacking rhythm but still lack stability at the back. Since late August, they have lost only twice in all competitions. Despite the recent 1:3 defeat to Mallorca, they remain one of the league’s most productive teams with 16 goals from nine games, the third-highest tally in Spain. The attacking depth stands out even after the departure of Dodi Lukebakio: Rubén Vargas Martínez has recorded two goals and four assists, Isaac Romero has scored three times, and defender José Carmona has already provided four assists. The defence, however, remains a weak point with 14 goals conceded.
Real Sociedad vs Sevilla Prediction
Sevilla are in far better form and travel to San Sebastián on the back of three consecutive away wins. Real Sociedad’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal and their fragile defence make them unlikely to secure even a draw. The visitors should at least avoid defeat and are well placed to find the net.
