Adam Williams presents his prediction for the BetMGM River Eden EBF Fillies' Stakes horse racing event.
Loughville, a representative of jump trainer Alan King, is the oldest runner in the field. She has had a long career, though her wins have come only in minor handicaps, and she has never looked particularly comfortable on all-weather tracks.
Understudy has already been out six times this season. She won on her second start in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Southwell, finished fourth in the Prix Lady O'Reilly (Group 3) in France, and last time out came home sixth in a Group 3 at Newmarket. She should acquit herself well again, and the trip ought not to be an issue.
Favorite Memory also did not race at two, and her latest run came in the same Newmarket Group 3 as Understudy, where she finished ninth. Before that she landed a handicap, beating just four rivals. Her profile is inconsistent, but her record suggests this could be the moment for her to step forward.
Another interesting three-year-old is Bosphorus Rose, who has taken three wins from six starts in over a mile and a half races. Last time in Listed company at Doncaster she finished third, with Loughville back in fourth. She may confirm that form again, although a win feels a little out of reach.
The four-year-old Fairy Glen won on debut last year and has since delivered three solid Listed efforts. She has two runner-up finishes from two starts this season, beaten only half a length last time. We are expecting further progress here, and at 4/1 with William Hill she is our selection.
