Ahead of Saturday’s head-to-head meeting, Sevilla and Deportivo Alavés have collected the same number of points from 23 league matches (25 each). Both teams want to pull further away from the relegation zone, and the visitors' attack is likely to give the hosts chances at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Sevilla
Even with a lighter schedule without European competition and the Copa del Rey, Sevilla have been unable to climb into the La Liga top ten. Since 17 December, when Matías Almeyda’s team were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Deportivo Alavés (0:1), they have managed only one win in eight matches. Over this period the squad have conceded at least once in every game, and they have now allowed 38 goals; they have the joint-worst defence in La Liga together with Levante from the relegation zone.
Deportivo Alavés
Before the defeat to Getafe (0:2), Deportivo Alavés had looked good in attack against Real Betis and RCD Espanyol (both 2:1) in La Liga, and they also put up a fight against Real Sociedad (2:3) in the Copa del Rey. In principle, Eduardo Coudet’s team should comfortably keep their top-flight status, but to do that they need to pick up points in matches against direct rivals in the standings.
Sevilla vs Deportivo Alavés Prediction
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, Sevilla have conceded a total of 12 goals in six head-to-head meetings with Deportivo Alavés, without a single clean sheet. The visitors should get on the scoresheet again.
