Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Swansea City, who continue to struggle in attack, take on a Queens Park Rangers side whose scoring output has dipped slightly after a strong recent run. Could this clash still deliver goals?
Swansea City
In the previous round, Swansea City managed to keep a clean sheet against a dangerous-on-paper Southampton (0:0). That had less to do with defensive dominance and more with the opponents’ wastefulness — they missed several sitters, finishing the game with a 21-6 shot advantage (8-1 on target, 4-0 in big chances). Still, the Welsh side held firm and have now averaged roughly one goal scored per match this season. However, their vulnerabilities show against stronger opposition — as seen in the 1:3 home defeat to Leicester City.
Queens Park Rangers
After a six-match unbeaten streak (4 wins, 2 draws), Queens Park Rangers finally slipped up last weekend with a 1:2 loss to Millwall. That was their sixth game of the campaign to go over 2.5 goals, underlining the team’s capacity for open, attacking football.
Swansea City vs Queens Park Rangers Prediction
Liberty Stadium has seen its fair share of high-scoring encounters — three of Swansea’s last four home games have gone over 3.5 goals. Given their defensive frailty and QPR’s attacking intent, a goal-filled contest looks likely once again. Both sides tend to play on the front foot when given space, and last season’s head-to-heads produced 2:1 and 3:0 results.
