The recent transfer of Umar Sadiq from Real Sociedad should give Valencia more ideas in attack; without them the club risk being relegated from the top division in Spain. Elche are currently in the top half of the La Liga standings, although they are only six points ahead of the hosts in the relegation zone.
Valencia
In recent seasons Valencia have become unaccustomed to their traditional fight for a top-four place in the La Liga and now are more often near the bottom of the standings. The 1:4 defeat against Celta Vigo was only the second loss for Carlos Corberán's side in their last nine matches; during this run they also slipped up away to Atlético Madrid (1:2). At home they are unbeaten in four consecutive matches, having collected six points at Mestalla Stadium since 9 November.
Elche
After returning to the La Liga, Elche unexpectedly climbed into the top 10, but it is unlikely they will be able to stay there. Since the end of November the promoted side have suffered three defeats in five rounds, and the recent 1:3 match against Villarreal, in which they allowed 2.63 xGA, suggests that their errors are systemic. Héctor Fort, André Silva and Rafa Mir remain out of Eder Sarabia's squad, and with them absent the limited options across the lines could become a significant factor.
