Werder Bremen’s slide in the standings has been the main surprise in the mid-table of the Bundesliga in 2026. This situation could be exploited by Bayern Munich, who skip the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League and can therefore put all their energy into the upcoming round of the German league.
Werder Bremen
Since the start of January, Werder Bremen have collected only two points in six Bundesliga rounds, the worst record in the league together with bottom side Heidenheim 1846. Their problems are directly linked to personnel issues: for several months the coaching staff have been unable to field their best defensive unit, with Mitchell Weiser, Niklas Stark and Amos Pieper all injured. The hosts have not won since early November – over the last 11 matchdays they have earned only four points from draws.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich returned to winning ways with a 5:1 thrashing of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, in which the league leaders benefited from a contentious sending-off for the opponents. Against the visitors, the side generated 6.02 in xG, and then went on to put RB Leipzig’s defence under constant pressure in the DFB-Pokal (2:0). Vincent Kompany’s team produced a high-quality attacking display there: 3.10:0.56 in xG and 7:1 in shots on target.
Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich Prediction
Away to Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich will be missing only Michael Olise (suspension for yellow cards); without the winger, Lennart Karl and Jamal Musiala are expected to start. It is hard to see the hosts avoiding defeat on Saturday.
