Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
Werder Bremen
After a poor start to the season (three defeats in six rounds), Werder Bremen reorganised their play and stabilised the defence. In October the club beat St. Pauli and Union Berlin, moving up to ninth place. They are now on a four-match unbeaten run, including two consecutive home clean-sheet wins. Average xG for this period is 1.84, and xGA is 0.82, which reflects reliable defensive work. At the Weserstadion the team concede fewer than one goal per match and win 62% of their home games.
Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg are trending down. After five points from the first three rounds came a run of six defeats in seven matches (including the cup). During this spell they even managed to lose four times at home. The only win in that period was against a weak Hamburger SV. Average xG over the last five rounds is 0.93, and they concede 1.9 goals per game. The lack of creativity in attack and an unstable defence make the visitors vulnerable against aggressive opponents.
Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg Prediction
Werder Bremen currently have a good balance between attack and defence. The team are confident in positional attacks and effective from free kicks and corners (two goals from corners in the last three matches). Wolfsburg lose concentration after the break — 65% of goals conceded come in the second half. The hosts are in form and have every chance to extend their unbeaten run.
