Who will win 2024 Hungarian GP?
2024 Hungarian Grand Prix Odds
The big question for the upcoming Grand Prix is how the long-awaited upgrades will affect the speed of the top teams. Even though Lando constantly gets on the podium behind Max, making their relationship tense, bookmakers don't think he'll have an advantage on the twisty Hungaroring. So, Verstappen is the favourite again.

At the British Grand Prix (July 7th) Max finished second and Lando came in third.
F1 Drivers’ Championship Odds
Of course, Lando’s most optimistic fans still believe that after a break in the second half of the season, he will get closer to Max and make him nervous, if he doesn’t take the lead in points.
In reality, everyone knows that without rainy weather, on a dry track, with a great qualification only technical problems with the Red Bull car can help to overtake Verstappen.
Even if we don’t see an exciting fight for points by the end of the season, we will definitely see a new battle between Lando and Max. The crash in Spielberg reminded fans of the return of the eccentric pre-championship Verstappen. On the other hand, Norris is trying to act like early Senna, ready to dive into sharp corners until he makes contact with his opponent's car.
So it doesn't matter if these two have really become friends again or if it's just for the media. There's no doubt that during the season they'll give us many more controversial and dangerous moments.

Hungarian Grand Prix History
The first Hungarian Grand Prix took place on July 21 in 1936, in the center of Budapest on a 3.1-mile circuit. Only 4 teams participated - Mercedes, Auto Union, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo. The first winner of the Hungarian race was Italian driver Tazio Nuvolari in Alfa Romeo.
Michael Schumacher is second, and Ayrton Senna is third.
Max Verstappen has won the last 2 years at the Hungaroring.
Among teams, McLaren still holds the absolute record with 11 wins. Williams and Ferrari share second place with 7 wins each.
Can Lewis repeat his Silverstone success?
Looking beyond the championship leaders, we can't forget Hamilton's amazing success at his home race in Silverstone. Considering his improving positions in recent races, it's clear this isn't just a coincidence, but updates of the car, which is finally showing competitive pace and feeling more confident on the straights.
Toto Wolff also noted the speed of the W15, and is confident that the Hungarian updates will help the car progress even further. However, the Mercedes team head driver cautiously acknowledges that the Hungaroring, with its tight and twisty sections, is far from the straights of Silverstone.
While there are a couple of fast corners in Hungary, if Lewis and George only make up time there, they're unlikely to keep up with Max's pace for the whole distance without destroying their best set of tires. So the bookmakers’ lack of confidence about repeating the Silverstone success is clear. Even though they've slightly lowered the odds for Lewis's victory, they're still quite high.
Moreover, when Russell left after some technical problems, it was a bad sign for the team, clearly showing that even the most successful upgrades can't protect the precious power unit.

The Constructors' Championship situation is even more interesting. Bookmakers are finding it hard to believe that Ferrari can stay at the second position, given McLaren's crazy growth. Additionally, even Red Bull's cup is now under threat due to Checo's obvious problems, who hasn't been getting high scores for the team since the Italian stage.
Hungarian GP Predictions
Both Mercedes cars can now compete with McLaren for a top-three. The weather forecast for Hungary shows clear skies and 35-degree heat. So, Mercedes will likely use an aggressive strategy, setting up their cars for more downforce, even if it means less speed on the straights.
Hungaroring is a very hard track for overtaking. The first few laps will be the most important, as drivers need to build a good gap from the car behind.
While analysts think a Mercedes win is unlikely, they've cut the odds for a podium finish by three times.
Piastri's chances are rated lower than his teammate's:
For the bet on the race winner, it's hard to argue with the bookmakers. Max's car had issues in changing rain conditions, but forecasts predict hot weather with hot tarmac - perfect for Red Bull.
The McLaren is now the fastest car in the paddock, just slightly ahead of Red Bull. Red Bull bosses have even complained to the FIA about Lando and Oscar's too-flexible front wings and "suspicious" brake system holes.
However, Max, who has won here twice in the last two years, is clearly on another level of driving. His car hasn't let him down yet, and with new updates, it might even close the small speed gap to competitors.
