Adam Williams presents his prediction for the German Masters Qualifiers match.
Stan Moody
Stan Moody has had a very impressive debut this season. The young Englishman entered the tour as the winner of the 2023 Amateur Junior Championship, defeating Liam Pullen (5-1) in the final. That same year, Stan also reached the final of the Amateur World Championship, losing to Ma Hailong (5-0). Even before this success, Stan attempted to join the tour through Q-School, where he beat strong amateurs. In his first year, Stan only won a few matches, the most notable being his victory over Zhou Yuelong. However, this season, Stan has defeated Matthew Stevens, Joe O'Connor, Michael Holt, Zhang Anda, Tom Ford, Ryan Day, and Pang Junxu. Stan shows a very mature game for his 18 years. He possesses a sound understanding of safety, makes the right shot selections, and has strong mental resilience that enables him to clinch frames and matches, competing with the tour's strongest players. As a result, Stan is ranked 40th this season and definitely should remain on tour at the end of the season.
Aaron Hill
Aaron Hill made his debut in 2020, and two years were not enough to establish himself on the tour, but Hill returned via Q-School. Hill played more productively over the next two years and now has a good chance to remain among the professionals. However, Hill is not performing well this season. Aaron and Stan share 10 losses and two draws, but Hill has recorded 9 wins, whereas Moody has achieved 18. Hill’s victory over Ding Junhui (4-3) at the British Open is noteworthy, yet Hill has not had any other bright spots this season.
Aaron Hill vs Stan Moody Prediction
This is why Stan Moody is the favourite in the upcoming match, and we agree with this assessment. Moody plays with more balance and maturity, despite being four years younger than Hill. Moody has made 63 breaks over 50, while Hill has only managed 28. We believe Stan Moody will win and advance to the main draw of the German Masters.
