Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Aberdeen are confidently matching Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but that parity vanished a week ago in the League Cup. They need to redeem themselves with an impressive victory. Meanwhile, Dundee have climbed back into the top six, but the gap from their pursuers is too tight for any relaxation.
Aberdeen
Aberdeen are having a powerful season in the Premiership, currently sitting in second place, with nine wins in ten matches and an average of two goals per game. However, on November 2nd at Hampden Park, they faltered in the League Cup semi-final as Celtic played at a different pace, resulting in a 6:0 scoreline. Aberdeen were hardly visible despite having 47% possession, managing only three shots and just one on target. Though Celtic hit the woodwork only eight times, their efficiency was remarkable. Aberdeen must rely on their home advantage, having not dropped a single point in six Premiership matches at Pittodrie.
Dundee
Dundee shook off a string of defeats in September (four in a row) and have won twice in their last four games, including last Sunday's home win over Kilmarnock (3:2). Their last away success was on October 19, when they overcame Motherwell (1:0). On the road, Dundee don't succumb too often, with only two defeats in five outings.
Aberdeen vs Dundee Prediction
Aberdeen may not be overwhelming favourites, even at home. If they do manage to win, it likely won't be without significant effort. They'll need to give their all to secure even a narrow victory. Previous two clashes at Pittodrie ended in draws (0:0 and 1:1). It was only in April 2022 that Aberdeen managed a 1:0 scoreline. This encounter will be challenging again, hence the prediction leans towards a positive handicap for Dundee.
