Aberdeen's lacklustre form at the end of 2024 did not hinder them from maintaining a spot in the top three of the Scottish league. Ross County, on the other hand, are likely to have lost their hope of making the playoffs, as their poor defence keeps them languishing at the bottom of the table.
Aberdeen
On their home turf, Aberdeen have secured 22 points from 10 matches—only Rangers and Celtic have more, with 25 each. In their away match against Dundee United (0:1), the team controlled the game more frequently (60–40 in possession), yet they only managed to create 0.79 xG over the 90 minutes. It is clear that Aberdeen will look to reclaim lost points in matches against underdogs this January.
Ross County
Following Christmas, Ross County had a favourable fixture list, picking up four points from matches against Dundee (3:0) and Hearts (2:2), both major relegation candidates. Prior to this, the team had suffered five consecutive defeats, with an aggregate score of 2:13. Away from home, Ross County have gathered just six points in nine matches—only Hearts have performed worse on the road, with five.
