Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
For AC Milan, a tumultuous 2024 concludes with a clash against their manager's former club. AS Roma have improved significantly in recent weeks, climbing back into the top-10 of the league, and they will aim for victory at San Siro as they continue to collect points.
AC Milan
Since the beginning of November, AC Milan have suffered only one defeat in 11 matches across all competitions, narrowly losing to league leaders Atalanta (1:2). In their last outing against Hellas Verona (1:0), they controlled the game (65%–35%in possession and 6–2 in shots on target), but lineup experiments nearly cost them more points. With Rafael Leão injured, Paulo Fonseca is likely to deploy Théo Hernandez on the left flank of the attack without the need for defensive duties. It's noteworthy that AC Milan remain in Serie A's top four based on xG (29.10).
AS Roma
AS Roma are not far behind their counterparts, having created 27.60 expected goals in 17 matches, the sixth-best in the league. Last week, they fully redeemed themselves after a defeat to Como (0:2) by thrashing Sampdoria (4:1) in the Coppa Italia and defeating Parma (5:0) in the league. Their issue remains performing away, with no wins in eight Serie A away matches.
AC Milan vs AS Roma Prediction
Since October 2020, AC Milan and AS Roma have hit the ‘Both Teams to Score’ bet in nine out of their 10 encounters. At San Siro, neither side will be keen to drop points, and mutual defensive errors are likely to produce plenty of chances. Rather than predicting the outcome, betting on both teams to score is advisable.
